Sometimes shutdowns are required and this can unfortunately be a difficult process. We can help make the process smoother by coordinating with electrical engineers, property owners, AUSGRID and building occupants to plan for the shutdown and install temporary power where required. This often requires a complex planned and staged shutdown of equipment including Building Management Systems (BMS), Access and security systems, switchboards and plant equipment and machinery. All equipment and shutdown areas are made safe and secured until the power is to be restored. Generators can be supplied to maintain power and alleviate any drainage of batteries on emergency and exit lighting. When power is restored this is again done in a carefully staged and managed order with manual recordings of power up times for record and fault tracing if required.
On a recent shutdown at a large, multi building and multi entity building in Maroubra Junction we undertook planning with AUSGRID and Building Management for several weeks in advance, organising appropriate electrical engineers and overseeing a shut down that ran for three days. The Building Management Committee (BMC) took the opportunity to upgrade electrical equipment during the shutdown to ensure smooth ongoing function for a further 10 years. We organised new custom designed switchboard design, production and installation for the upgraded equipment.
